Overview of the role:

We are seeking a Tax Accountant / Executive to join our tax department and support the company's tax compliance and planning efforts. In this role, you will assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, and support various tax-related initiatives. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Expectations from the role:

Tax Compliance: Prepare and file direct and indirect tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Tax Planning: Assist in developing tax planning strategies to minimize the company’s tax liabilities and enhance financial performance.
Financial Support: Assist in preparing tax projections, forecasts, and financial statements to support strategic decision-making.
Research and Monitoring: Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the company’s tax position.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation to support filings and audits.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, and other departments to ensure tax implications are considered in business decisions.
Audit Support: Assist in responding to tax-related inquiries and audits from regulatory authorities, coordinating with external tax advisors and auditors.

Qualification and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a tax role within a similar industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and tax software.
Experience managing tax proceedings at both federal and provincial levels.
Knowledge of current tax issues and changes in federal and provincial tax laws.
Ability to work independently in a flat hierarchy as an individual contributor.

You should be:

Experienced across multiple industries, particularly in Retail and Information Technology.
Proven ability to adapt to and integrate new tax requirements.
